What are you sacrificing?

The simple blog for this week - what are you sacrificing to advance the Gospel of Christ and to see the Kingdom grow? Please post comments only about what you are sacrificing, don't post comments about other people's sacrifices please.

  • As much as I want to make some big list of sacrifices I am finding that I am drawing a blank. I have made sacrifices in the past for the Gospel, but I can think of nothing right at this moment. I want to say I am sacrificing sleep so that I can come to the church and pray, but I am finding that it is not so much of a sacrifice anymore as it is becoming a part of who I am to be at the church by 6:00am to pray. I also want to say that I am sacrificing World of Warcraft, but in reality that is not really a sacrifice it is something I needed to give up so that it wouldn't interfere with my walk. This is a hard one for me............my missions giving isn't a sacrifice anymore, nor is my tithe, it is something I love to do.....then again can you love to sacrifice? And if that is the case then maybe I am sacrificing some things. I eagerly await to hear what everyone else is sacrificing.

  • being obedient in tithing regularly has only meant sacrificing pleasures of the flesh, like reducing numbers of time going out to eat, trips to starbucks which was originally about three times a week, then went to once a week and is now very rare at all, I have found that being obedient in giving truly just keeps me away from spending money on my flesh which eventually feeds my spirit anyway! It means reducing our comfort zone - colder temps during the winter, warmer temps in the summer to keep electricity bills down. I believe in eternal investments....and please Pastor, correct my understanding of the greek, but isn't the usage of belief a very powerful verb which results in action....

  • sacrificing my love of the comfort zone and people pleasing, knowing that some people will never agree even if it IS the right thing to do.

  • Dude, mostly I have sacrificed relaxing time, but I find that my time spent evangelizing is so energizing I don't need to relax. I have sacrificed status in my community, I am looked upon as a pariah in the church community, I am even insulted amogst Alliance brethren, all for the sake of promoting a Biblical Gospel, and standing against methods that are less than biblical. All for the glory of God, however!

  • I would have to say all of the comforts we have here in the states. God has called my family and I to serve Him in Kosovo and we are making the plans necessary to go and be int he field by summer 2008. By pure faith this will happen as He already has the plan in place and it is our duty to obey and give up the things in our life that hinder what He is calling us to do. Garold Elston

  • Sacrifice my fears, pettiness, anger, jealousy, resentments, unforgiveness. Just the small stuff, ya know ;-).
